So, 4 days down time and with that… more painting and planning on the Warhammer 40k army. I’m really enjoying the collecting and painting, but learning the rules seems a pain. With the rules, I bought the new ones for my army… interesting read through. I bought some new guys as well, flying Gargoyles and also some Hive Guard… tank type creatures. Great fun.
I’m working tonight, 7pm to 7am for the next 4 days… looking forward to catching up with people at work.
Once this set is over, I’m then 12 days off… figured I would have a big break and relax. Probably paint some more minitures.
Yesterday was a long day, stuck at work because of an accident on the road. 27 hours later and I was home and fast asleep. Knackered.
Today, waiting on deliverys and relaxing infront of the TV catching up on things I missed whilst working.
I’ve recently got back in to playing Warhammer 40,000 but this time, I’m not picking the over powered Space Marines (Space Wolves) like I did before… but I’ve decided to go with the Tyranids. These little beasties are like the monsters from the Alien movies.
Here is a picture of one:

I’ve sooooo many to paint its unreal, but the 30-40 I’ve painted so far have really been a blast. Right now I’m finishing off the remaining Hermagants and Termagaunts, the worker ants. Then I’ve got 6 Warriors to start… a Carnifex (huge monster) and then to start on a Hive Tyrant (the chap above) and then 2 Hive Tyrant Guards (think the Tyrants personal body guard.)
I’ve about 700+ points so far, if I start playing a lot I’ll think about writing a blog and call it something like ‘Invasion’ or something similar.
Its tough to think that its another decade down and we are now in 2010. I can only hope this year is better than the last. Don’t get me wrong, some highs but the lows really kicked me when I was down. I really want to do a lot more in 2010. I hope to travel over to see a friend in the US, get a lot fitter than I am now (another year feeling crap), find a new job… seriously need to do this. Something else that has re-surfaced is the wanting to go back to school. I’d love to go do a Degree but in what? My OU in Computer Science was just depressing. I was thinking History or Art. Both highly thought of Degrees and both interest me a lot. I’ll probably spend some time on my days off looking at the various courses and see if by June/July I can make the leap and head back to school. For now, this week, I’ve been back on the Linux trail… scouting out for work what we should use for our next big game… since no one has any real work experience with Linux and I have. Its ok, but trying to get my point across of ‘free’ doesn’t mean ‘good’. At some point I’ll have to come in on a day off to lay the smackdown but for now I’m doing my best with emails. I’d say its exciting but it really isn’t, you get more annoyed with the fact the company isn’t making an effort to get people trained… oh and we need all this up and running within 2-3 months.
Anyway, last hour of work… it’s my Birthday today, I am working tonight as well. Had a few happy birthday messages already, thanks for those.
Seems I am working a lot in the coming new year, lots of stuff going on, which means I missed the chance to book my Birthday off (well, someone booked before I could)
I’m out tonight instead, friends and family. We are going to a great place in town, best steaks I’ve ever tasted.
Christmas was excellent this year, enjoyed every minute of it and was good to see my older brother.
The best thing this year was the food, we had so much but all perfectly prepared by my mum and dad. The Turkey was perfect. Didn’t drink a lot this year but we all had a merry time, even my nan.
As for presents…
- Xbox 360 game, Brutal Legend
- 2 Pairs of trainers, some Nike walking shoes and a pair of training shoes… hopefully to help me get in to shape
- New jacket, much needed since my old one is falling apart.
- Socks (always socks… always)
- Some pictures for the flat, some of me and some celebs I’ve met over the last year (Craig Charles etc)
- Chocolates (boxes upon boxes, all given to my mum and dad, really am trying to cut down)
- Shirts, new shirts… some very cool designs as well (even a Superman shirt!)
- Baseball cap (Baltimore Ravens)
- Xbox 360 + 4 games
- Mobile Phone (HTC Hero (G2)
- Lots of other stuff I need to sort out when I get back home…
So yes, good few days. Lots of laughs… lots of bad cracker jokes!
Oh, here is a picture:

Christmas
Hope everyone else had a very good time, what did everyone else get?
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and hoping Santa has treated everyone to something special!
Tis the day before Christmas, and all through the house… no presents are found, not even a … uh… whatever.
Half day at work today, 15-20 minutes to go, then off to the parents place for food then finish off the shopping (stuff we missed earlier in the week)
I’ll post tomorrow if I remember, but expect a post-Christmas post with a list of goodies!
So, 10 hours walking about… from home to train station… station then on to train (standing only!)… walk from Birmingham International to Hall 9… then the mammoth walk around the NEC show (Memoribillia) to see guests and all the cool loot people had been showing.
I’ve only a few pictures, because my camera was too heavy to take with me (and expensive) and my phone… well its a HTC so it sucks.
Was a good day out, went with 2 brothers, mum and dad.
